As I mentioned in my August favourites, I've really been into the whole strobing trend.
I have always been a sucker for highlighting, so this new strobing-trend aka. highlighting gone crazy is just up my street - much more so, than the previous contour-trend.
Strobing is actually great for fair skin - I think it enhances and compliments fair skin beautifully.
So I thought, I would share my favourite products for strobing/highlighting, and how I do it.
Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora - theBalm Mary-Lou-Manizer - No. 7 Instant Radiance Revlon Photoready Skinlights in Bare Light - L'Oreal Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice |
I have always preferred cream/liquid highlighters and that it still the case, however there is just one powder highlighter you can't avoid, when looking for a "serious" highlight.
The Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora is a great peachy golden cream highlighter.
The before mentioned powder highlighter is theBalm Mary-Lou-Manizer - this is an absolutely beautiful golden champagne highlighter, not for the subtle ones.
No. 7 Instant Radiance is a good way to go, if you like a more pink tone - it is more subtle than the two others, but great for layering with some of the others.
For a more golden look the Revlon Photoready Skinlights in Bare Light is amazing. It gives more of a "wet" and dewy look to the skin, so therefore it is amazing, if the whole beaming strobe is to much for you.
My absolute favourite product for strobing is the L'Oreal Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in Ice. It is just the most amazing icy pink, which blend into the skin like a dream and give you the ultimate strobe look with only one product.

The base is important, so to get the right look, make sure you skin in moisturised properly and if you have dry skin use a hydrating primer.
Strobing works best with a somewhat flawless base and preferable not to matte, as it can make the highlighted areas look to "fake" - it just blend in better and look more natural with a somewhat dewy base.
I put a bit of the product on my hand and then dab it onto the high points of my cheeks, down my noose, on my cupid's bow, a bit on my chin and lastly over my brows.
I have applied more product, than I normally would here, but otherwise it wasn't really showing up in the photos. Normally I use a small pea size amount for all the points.
I just blend it into the skin with my fingers and if I feel like, I needed a bit of help with the blending, I use my beauty blender.
I definitely recommend starting out light and then building it up, because otherwise you can quickly end up looking like a caked up disco ball.
In the "blended out" picture above, I only have the Illuminator on, no bronzer/contour or blush, and this truly shows just how much of an impact strobing can do on its own.
