If you go back and read my review for the Rouge Edition Velvets, you will see, that I wasn't to keen about those - They are beautiful on the lips and last very well, but I just find them a bit to much of a hassle to apply and the smell is weird!
So I was somewhat sceptical, when they launched this aqua version - however from the description and the reviews, they seemed a bit more up my street.
Even though I do like my Nars and Maybelline Matte lip pencils (they so much easier to apply, than the velvets), I do tend to go for a more glossy or satin lip for everyday - It just makes my small lips look a bit more lush, than a dry matte lip.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqau in Appêchissant |
The packaging and the smell (unfortunately) is the same as the velvets.
However somehow the smell doesn't seem to linger as much with these, so I don't really mind it.
The formula is a very unique, almost like a cooling watery gel, when first applied to the lips.
It glides on like a dream, and just smelts into the lips and doesn't gather or sit weird or patchy.
The finish is like a gloss, but a creamy gloss with more a water look, than a shiny look.
It feels nice and weightless on the lips and aren't in any way sticky.
You can build up the intensity by adding an extra layer once the first one has kind of settled.
But as I mentioned in my May favourites, I also really been liking using it with a lip liner.
The lasting power isn't as good as the Velvets, but for a "glossy" lip it is rather good - and the application is so fuss-free, that I don't mind having to re-apply.
I got the colour Appêchissant, which is a beautiful pink rosy colour - perfect for everyday use.
It really reminds be of a better version of the L'Oreal GlamShine Stain Splash.
All in all, I really like the one I got, and if it wasn't because, I'm trying not to go overboard on the lip products at the moment, I would probably have gotten more.
If you like the more glossy look, I definitely recommend these (of cause I can only really speak for the colour, I got), and I will give it a 4 on the Rating Scale.
Do you prefer a matte or glossy lip?
