Black suits me, my style and my comfort - and that doesn't change just because it is summer.
As I very rarely spend time in the direct sun anyway and prefer the shade, I still gravitate towards the black even when it is 20 degrees plus.
But I do pair it with some lighter pieces as well - and these the nine items, I like to have in my summer wardrobe this year.
1. A pair of light, loose and relaxed trousers
Go for print, stripe or one colour, doesn't matter. The kind of pajamas-vibe fit the summer perfect and they can be dressed up or down.
These striped ones are from Zara.
2. A boyfriend style sweatshirt vest
This is great to throw on over any outfit in the evenings or the chilly mornings, and give the outfit a bit of edge.
Oh, and the hood is great for those surprise-summer-rain-showers.
H&M Mens Section do great ones, like this biker style one.
3. An oversized shirt
Great with shorts or instead of jacket, when it is really hot.
You can go for light demin, stripes or like this one from Topshop Gingham Checks.
4. A striped tee
Of course I have to have my striped tees, and preferable more than one and in different colour combinations.
This beauty is from Zara.
5. A black slouchy tank
I go for the black tank instead of the white, as white is often see-through, which means I need to wear something underneath, which is not desirable when you are already over-heated.
Together with a pair of shorts it creates the most perfect and chick hot summer day outfit.
This one in soft rib is from ASOS.
6. A floral or tropical printed tee
To bring a bit of "life" into the mix, I go for a printed tee, preferable in floral or like this one from ASOS a tropical print to fit the season.
7. A black oversized dress
This might seem quite controversial, but something like this is my life-saver, then I'm going out at night or need to be a bit more "dressed" and the thermostat is showing over 20 degrees.
8. A bunch of shorts
As I mentioned in my "shorts post", I love wearing shorts and when it is warm, they are a must.
But I also wear them on the cooler days with a shirt or even a light sweater, I don't care, I just want my legs out!
H&M has been really on point for shorts this year.
9. A kimono blazer
Kimonos are all the rage right now, and I really like the kimono blazers, which have become my jacket of choice this summer.
I do also have a sheer longer kimono as well for the hotter days - still in black though.
So these were my summer clothes essentials - come back soon for the shoes and accessories picks.
