Bobby Brown is one of these brands, that I have always been curious about, but never really looked into.
When I arrived to the UK, one of the first adds, that caught my eye was the one for this new Bobbi Brown foundation.
It sounded like something, that had everything, I wanted in a foundation.
I treat myself to one high-end foundation a year, and exactly a year has passes since I brought Nars Sheer Glow.
So I sad down and got matched at the Bobbi Brown counter and here are my thoughts about Bobbi Browns version of the luminous foundation.
Packaging:
No complaints about the packaging - glass bottle, pump and a lid, that stays on.
Consistency & scent:
It is very liquid, but when applied it kind of goes on like a more thick serum foundation.
It smells a bit weird, almost artificial and a bit like plastic.
The scent doesn't linger, so it's okay - but I don't really get it!
Shade range:
Bobbi Brown have a great range of shades - from very light (like me) to very dark.
I of course got Alabaster, which is the lightest one.
Application:
I did a bit of trial and error with this foundation in terms of application.
I always start out with applying with a brush, but soon realised, that it just didn't work with this foundation.
It was very hard to apply evenly and got a bit streaky.
So next up I tried with my very cheap beauty blender dupe from ebay, and it was so much better - actually perfect.
I think, it would work well applied with fingers as well, if you prefer that.
The result:
Lets just say, they aren't lying, when they claim luminous!
This is probably the most luminous foundation, I have ever tried.
The coverage is actually quite light, but easy to build up.
And the lasting power is very good, and probably one of the best of all the foundations, I have tried.
The "treatment" beneficials:
Unfortunately I won't be able to commend on these claims, as I never would use a foundation as a treatment and I usually don't use the same foundation every day.
I would never recommend substituting make up with skin care. Just see it as an added bonus, if is actually does give moisture.
Conclusion:
At first I wasn't really sure, if I would get on with it.
But after using it several times in over a week, I reach the conclusion, that I actually quite like it as a day foundation.
However should I want a more flawless look, I would go to my Nars Sheer Glow, and if I'd to pick between the two, I would still go for Nars Sheer Glow.
This foundation is for you, if you like a natural and very luminous look and don't need a lot of coverage.
Buy it:
As it is higher end, you will have to get the big ones out, it retails at £ 32.
Available in most department stores at the Bobbi Brown counter.
