Moisture Search… My search for a new moisturiser feat. Pai Hydrating Day Cream And FAB Ultra repair Face Moisturizer!

I kind of knew it, but wouldn't really recognize it - my moisturiser love, Korres Watercress Extra Moisturising Cream has been discontinued (Major sad face!!).
I had a hard time getting a hold of one this autumn, but now it is sold out everywhere and have been for a good while.

I like trying new products, but I always have a really hard time finding a good moisturiser, so this is far from a happy event.
But I still decided to give it a go and see, if I could something, that gave me the same extreme moisture without irritating my skin.

I have been liking the First Aid Beauty products I had tried. I think they do great stuff at a reasonable price.
So I first took a look at their selection.
I have heard great things about the original Ultra Repair Cream, but thought one specifically for the face probably would be best, and I loved the "safe for sensitive skin" promise, as this is one of my biggest issues, so I decided to give the FAB Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer a go.

But it didn't live up to my expectations or its promises.
At first application it instantly irritated the skin on my cheeks and it didn't give nearly enough moisture to my skin, not even with two layers.
So this was a major let down, and I knew, I wouldn't be able to make it work, so I needed to find something else.

This time around I decided really to do my research and not just go for a brand, I already knew.
I searched high and low, read reviews and checked declarations on a ton of different moisturizers.
I ended up with the Pai Avocado & Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream - it had great reviews and seemed to be both safe for sensitive skin and able to give good moisture.

My first impression was that the scent was a bit weird, and one you really had to get use to.
Next I was glad to see, that it didn't irritate my skin.
But with that said it still didn't moisturise in the way, I like.
It sinks into the skin to quickly and even though my skin do feel hydrated, it is more of a "dry" moisturising.
I like it to be a bit more "wet" and oily, as this is the only way I feel my skin really gets, what it needs.

I decided to still use it, because in the end, it was quite expensive and as long as it doesn't irritate my skin and keeps the worse dehydration and dry skin away, it is okay.
But now after using it for quite a while, I'm really disappointed, that it doesn't really do anything for my skin besides the bare minimum.

However I have to say, that if you have dehydrated skin, but don't like the more oily moisturizers, the Pai one is probably a good one for you, as long as you don't expect miracles from it.

I also tried out a sample of the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, which also irritated my skin.

So my search is still incomplete, but for now I will set it on pause and go back a simple old friend, that I know works for me in warmer months, the Weleda Almond Cream, again it doesn't preform miracles, but it does the job and that at a more reasonable price-tag.
But I will probably have to resume my search in the autumn, so if you have any suggestion, please let me know.

  1. Have you tried La Roche Posay? I can't remember the exact name, but I have really sensitive skin at times, and when it's acting up I use a really thick cream from them. It's very hydrating and has that "wet" kind of texture you like! Also I've found Avené to be great for non irritating creams.

    1. Hi, thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely look into La-Roche Posay, because I love their effaclair Duo. I have tried Avene skincare, and it never really did anything for me (I have the weirdest skin :-)) - But again thank you :-)
