I not going to preach, because you probably all know, how important it is to clean and take care of your make up brushes.
But I want to share my "technique" and the products I use.
I spot clean my brushes every day with the Daily Makeup Brush Cleanser from Sephora, which comes in this very handy spray bottle.
It is super affordable and lasts for a really long time.
I just spritz a few sprays (depending on the brush size) on the brush and then wipe it of on a clean cloth.
This keeps my brushes fresh for longer.
I especially make sure to do this with brushes, I use for my foundation and concealer or other cream products.
However I definitely feel that a totally clean brush do the job better.
I use the same brushes 5-7 times, however as I don't wear make up every day, this often means, that I only deep clean my brushes every second week.
For deep cleaning I use the Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo (called Natusan in Denmark).
It is gentle, but still has a very pleasant smell.
And most important it really does the job very well.
Technique-wise I'm very standard.
I pour a small amount of the shampoo into my palm and then swirl the brush around in it and work it into the bristles, still be very gentle.
Then I rinse with lukewarm water.
With my foundation brushes, I have to do this step 2-3 times.
Most important is that you hold the brush in a downwards angle under the water, so you don't get water down to where the bristles are glued to the handle.
For drying I fold a towel, so that the brushes is placed with the bristles downwards - again to keep the water away from the glue.
It is a bit hard to explain - a picture might do a better job :-)
I normally wash my brushes in the evening, and for the most part they will be dry in morning.
It is not my favourite task at all, however I really try to be good with it.
And being able to apply make up with a fresh and clean brush makes it worth it.
I hope this gave you some inspiration for your next brush cleaning session.
