Cut, Cut, Cut… My New Hairdo!

After quite a few years where I have been in kind of a competition with myself to see, how long my hair could actually get, before I felt like it was enough, I reached the point of total irritation right before Christmas - So I knew it was time to get quite a change hair-wise.

I have been thinking about it for the past year actually, but never really felt, that I was at the "point of no return".

When I decided to let my hair grow, I also promised myself not let my "I need a change"-feelings result in my hair suffering with drastic haircuts and colour change (as I used to, when I was younger).
So the last few years, I have only done the regular maintenance cut and some highlights once in a while.

But as I mentioned, I reach the point, where I just felt, I had had enough.
I felt it was just hanging there and looking a bit "blah".

I follow both Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port on Instagram and especially, when I saw Whitney Port's new do, I felt it tingle.
The length of hers was exactly, what I wanted.
When I made the final decision, I also researched a bit online and found Kate Mara - I really liked that hers was shorter in the back.

So my hairdresser (who I love BTW) and I decided on a collarbone length blunt and sharp cut, that is a bit shorter in the back.
It was quite a change, and I really needed to get use to it and experiment a bit with the styling.

But in my experimentation I realised, that I got exactly, what I wanted - a very versatile haircut.
I feel, I have so many options in the styling, but still without it being to high-maintenance.
And washing and drying it is an absolute dream - so quick and easy.
Finally there are no big knots and tangles any more - Hallelujah!

So I love it, and don't regret it at all.
I know, that a lot of my family and friends prefer me with the longer hair, but personally, I don't feel, that the longer hair really suits my personality and style - and in the end, I'm the only one how really needs to love it.

  1. Shoulder length hairstyles are super underrated. I guess it's due to the fact that longer hairtsyles are easier to style. However, I've always thought that short to medium hairstyles are easier to manage. Anyway, you look amazing on your new do, Julie. Thanks for sharing that! Stay gorgeous! :)
